If you worked out the finances to do all the work that NAK- MAS has done and continues to do so, it would be way up in the thousands of pounds level. For a small membership fee, an affiliate will take advantage of all the benefits, and there are loads.
How important do you feel it is for martial arts instructors to continue to develop their skills? Extremely important, in the same way you would expect a medical doctor to develop their skills. We have so many leading martial artists throughout NAKMAS providing valu- able and varied courses, the opportunity to develop skills has never been easier.
When does a martial artist stop learning? When you die!
How do you relax? Easy... by visiting and engaging in the English tea room industry - I love tea rooms and hate pubs. I am teetotal. I created an Eng- lish tea room guide (www.
tea-room-guide.org. uk) and I am writ- ing an English tea room guide, which should be published the end of the year. I also write tea related material for maga-
zines and websites and have the contract to write for the
2011 Women’s Institute
national annual. Although this may seem like work, it is relaxing.
I am also a member of the Cromwell Association (
www.olivercromwell.org) so that is very relaxing and enjoyable.

What are your aims and objectives regarding the future development of Karate and other martial arts systems within UK? Well, engaging with martial arts clubs and groups and getting them on board. We recently launched NAKMAS Publishing (
www.nakmaspublishing.com) and we aim to promote martial artists to a much greater level and help them publish their work. We are have a few exciting developments that will prove invaluable to our members.
